Here’s an overview of professional and volunteer activities. For more details, please see my curriculum vitae.
What I Do Today as a Professional. I am an accounting and auditing partner with Andrews Hooper Pavlik PLC (AHP), a Michigan firm with 11 offices across Michigan. My industry experience includes governmental entities, not-for-profit organizations, employee benefit plans (private, governmental, and SEC), education (K-12 and higher education), health care organizations, construction contractors, peer reviews, and professional service organizations. Services include auditing, accounting, contract CFO services, fraud prevention and investigations, and organizational consulting.
Professional History. Before AHP, I was with a San Jose, California CPA firm and, prior to that, was the technical director for the Peer Review Program of the California Society of CPAs for six years. As part of that role, I oversaw the program’s technical review process, managed its technical reviewers, and was a resource for peer reviewers and firms with technical questions related to peer review and professional standards. I also wrote the California Reviewer, a quarterly newsletter of the Peer Review Program. Prior to CalCPA, I was the partner in charge of auditing, accounting, and quality control for a local Oakland, California CPA firm.
